Views galore

With room to land a helicopter, this epic blue-sky dream has it all, from a cinema and tennis court to a resort-style pool with panoramic views.

And it is expected to fetch $6 million.

Belvedere, in rural Nindaroo, is set to break residential price records in the Mackay region, according to Ray White Whitsunday sales consultant Mark Beale.

“We have already fielded a few calls, from Melbourne and New Zealand,” he said.

Beautiful Belvedere

Mr Beale said that, with five bedrooms, a host of recreational spaces, and all the privacy and views offered by a rural hilltop, the fully furnished property will suit families looking for their dream home, or as a corporate retreat.

“Everything is done with this house, you don’t need to do a thing but move in,” he said.

“You are less than 10 minutes from Mackay, with the privacy of a hilltop, beautiful ocean views, in a house that feels like a resort.”

Owner Greg Murphy said that they had used the large open area at the front of the house as a helipad a few times.

“It’s just a 20-minute helicopter ride to the Whitsundays,” he said.

Mr Murphy said his family had developed the expansive home over 2010-13, after knocking down an existing residence that they had lived in since 2004. The aim was to create a large resort-style family home on a single level that maximised the site’s panoramic views.

“The original place was a comfortable home but didn’t make the most of the aspect of the view,” Mr Murphy said.

“When we bought the property, we knew eventually we would rebuild. We wanted to live here for a while first and get the feel of it, then started planning for the new place.”

And what a build!

At over 1000sq m of interior space, the home offers sweeping open-plan contemporary styling with gleaming floors, enormous windows, high vaulted ceilings, broad verandas. All parts of the home offer vistas, air and light.

Belvedere features play spaces for all ages, from expansive shed and garage areas, to home cinema, to children’s play and retreat spaces, to generous entertainment areas. And an office for when it is time to get down to business.

Importantly, the residence has been designed for climate, including a super-strong full steel truss frame.

Mr Murphy said that ease of care had been designed into the property, including its landscaping, with sealed dual-access drive areas, retaining walls and garden terraces: functional landscaping that also complements the natural setting of the property, incorporating local species such as the pandanus that crown the stunning infinity-edge swimming pool.

Family needs have changed since building what Mr Murphy said was intended as their “forever home”.

“The house has met our expectations, three-fold. It is hard to let it go,” he said.
