NYC Kids Weekend Events: Feb. 15-27

This weekend, you and the kids get to go on a nature scavenger hunt, learn how to decorate cupcakes, and judge this first annual ice sculpture show.  There are also ways to enjoy midwinter recess outside, or if you’d rather stay warm, you can check out a variety of indoor workshops happening, too. A Universe of Stories

Snapology’s A Universe of Stories Space Robotics program allows children to explore different aspects of space science and deep space exploration through building robotic models that mimic the concepts that they are investigating. Event Details.

Open Hours at the Education Center

Get to know Brooklyn Bridge Park with monthly educational themes, a 250-gallon aquarium filled with critters from the East River, a 10’ scale model of Brooklyn Bridge Park, crafts, a reading corner, and much more. Event Details.

Winter Ice Sculpture Show

Enjoy an exciting afternoon of live ice carving from skilled ice artists, then stick around, enjoy everything the Winter Village has to offer (including warm drinks from Little Eva’s), and help choose the winner at the end of the event. Event Details.

Delightful Desert Dwellers

Take a break from winter weather in the northeast to explore plants that grow in warmer places. Learn how cacti and succulents survive harsh conditions and draw them into an imaginary landscape that you can visit during the last few weeks of winter. Event Details.

Buildings and Blocks at Top of the Rock

Top of the Rock’s Weather Room has been adorned with towers of large-scale building blocks that emulate the skyline seen through the 25-foot floor to ceiling windows surrounding the room. Visitors are invited to interact with the freestanding blocks while taking in the breathtaking skyline views of Manhattan. Event Details.  

Ice Skating at Brooklyn Commons

This 5,000 square-foot ice skating rink offers daily public skating for visitors of all ages. Event Details.

I Want to Be a Vet

Aspiring veterinarians will enjoy learning about the many aspects of veterinary care.  Children will learn about the special needs of a variety of APEC’s Animal Ambassadors and observe them up-close. Event Details.
